#tastethevibration

Earlier this month, I participated in an amazing collective project / yoga challenge on Instagram. But it wasn’t a typical yoga challenge in that there was a specific pose you had to do each day. It was more of a collaborative, chakra-inspired project hosted by Sarah Pohl.

I know – that’s a mouthful. Basically, Sarah’s vision was that at the end of 20 days, we would together create a giant chakra wheel. You see, each chakra are energy centers in our body and associate with a vital center in the body. Each of the 7 chakras is associated with a specific color.

The premise of the project was that each day, there would be a specific color and anyone participating in the project could post a yoga pose or yoga-inspired lifestyle post that corresponded to that color. Over 20 days, we would move through the colors black, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, white and rainbow.

You can see how this could be a challenge. To maintain the integrity of the color wheel, everyone posting under the hashtag had to cooperate and stick to the specified color for that day. I imagined that people would be all over the place with their posting and just add the #tastethevibration hashtag to their pictures to get more exposure, totally messing up the whole vibe of the project.

But an amazing thing happened – people actually worked collaboratively on this. If you have time, scroll through the #tastethevibration photos. It’s visually stunning.

Here are my pictures from the challenge.

I think that this was the coolest project that I participated in on Instagram. Not only seeing people come together collectively to create this beautiful color wheel but I was amazed by the creativity of everyone’s posts.

I was going to explain all the different chakras and how they relate to the body and what the significance of the pose but this was getting long, especially with all the pictures. But if you’re interested, let me know. I thought it was fascinating.

What’s your favorite color?

Your pictures are absolutely stunning, Christine! I really like the colors red and purple and how they turned out in your project. Not sure what that says about me, but I’ll have to find out. ;) This is a really cool challenge! The different pose each day is nice, but this really takes yoga challenges to another (awesome) level!
