Old School Blogging: Throw Back

I love Old School Blogging – the link up that Elaine from Miss Elaineous Life hosts. It’s always such a fun way to get to know a bit more about people – you know, random tidbits about life and other fun facts.

Elaine dug this one up from 2008. At first, I didn’t think that was so long ago but then I realized that yes, it was five years ago. This month, Elaine is hosting the link-up with Brittany.

Where is your cell phone? Right next to me. When is it not?

Your significant other?  Otherwise known as Ed and we’ve been married for 10 years.

Your hair? Feeling kind of shapeless right now. I’m debating whether or not to grow it out after my haircut debacle or whether to cut it short again.

Your mother? An incredible cook. A ridiculous strong (yet stubborn) woman. Continues to surprise me. Is a trendier dresser than I am.

Your father? Passed away when I was 8 years old.

Your favorite thing? My kids.

Your dream last night? I very very rarely remember my dreams. I wish that I remembered more of them.

Your favorite drink? Iced coffee.

Your dream/ goal? Watch my kids grow up to be happy, healthy, compassionate men. Write. Teach yoga.

The room you are in? The living room

Your fear? Heights. The ocean. Failure.

Where do you want to be in six years? I imagine that I will still be living in New York City but I’d love to be able to spend time regularly near the ocean. If I had my way, it would be Costa Rica, Hawaii or Montauk.

Where were you last night? Teaching my teaching final for my yoga teacher training program!!

What are you not? Decisive. I’m terrible at making decisions.

Muffins? I love baking them for my kids but they aren’t for me.

One of your wish list items? More time.

Where you grew up? I was born in Connecticut and moved to the SF Bay Area in Junior High.

The last thing you did? Brushed my teeth.

What are you wearing? PJs. It’s late. I should be asleep but instead I’m doing my Old School Blogging post.

Your TV? Rarely on these days.

Your pets? None. I’m allergic as is one of my kids.

Your computer? Always on.

Your life? Full. I also feel like I’m on the cusp and that life could go in lots of different directions depending on where I choose to focus my energies.

Your mood? Surprisingly optimistic.

Missing someone? Always missing my Dad.

Your Car? Jetta station wagon

Something you are not wearing? My contacts. It’s late.

Favorite store? Well, for sure not this one.

Your summer? This past summer might have been the most glorious summer. We spent a month in Hawaii. I returned to surfing. My kids learned to surf. I ran a bit too much. I learned a lot of lessons on my summer vacation.

Like someone? Ummm, yes. All of you of course.

Your favorite color? Purple

Last time you laughed? At the dinner table. The boys were being silly and ridiculous. I tried in vain to get them to stop which, of course, they did not. I tried to get all serious but then ended up laughing with them.

Last time you cried? I’m pretty sure in yoga class recently.

What is one thing on your To-Do list? Figure out what the heck to do about health insurance. Being a freelancer does have downsides. I hate trying to make sense of health insurance.

Come play along! Link up with Elaine and Brittany and tweet them at @elainea and @BrittanyVandy using #OSBlog!

What’s one thing on your to-do list? Where will you be in 6 years?

My to do list is similar, I don’t have to check out insurance but I have to figure out medical expenses and options, whether I should go public v private route.

In six years I hope to be somewhere different, not sure where. But I want to be happy and for my kids to be happy and healthy!

Fun post! Your boys are gorgeous!

I love this OSB! Your answer about Montauk made me think of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. And now I have to read your father post because I lost mine when I was just about four, and I miss him always.

I grew up going to Montauk every year. It was one of my father’s favorite places. Speaking of, I can, unfortunately, relate to the answer about your father. I lost mine two years ago. We just honored the anniversary by going to Newport, RI–another one of his favorite places.

Loved reading your OSBlog and glad that Elaine gave us a space to link up so I can read everybody’s!

I’m afraid I share your fear of heights, Christine.

I’ve read several of these #OSBlog Q&As this week and they are an absolute blast. It’s such fun to find out little details about favorite bloggers.

Oh … and my fave color is purple too. And, so is my husband’s. I always think that’s different for a guy, but I love that he and I share the same color preference!

I’m going to have to read your post about fearing the ocean since you know, “surf” is in your blog name – ha!

And yes, when the kids are cutting up at dinner, it’s usually just easier to join them.

Thanks for playing along and linking up!!

This part brought a little tears to my eyes because I can so relate to this feeling. “Your life? Full. I also feel like I’m on the cusp and that life could go in lots of different directions depending on where I choose to focus my energies.”

And you look beautiful in that picture from your wedding. I love the simple hair, necklace and strapless dress. Sigh. I love weddings.
