Old School Blogging – List of Fives

Remember the Old School Blogging post from last month? Well, we’re back! This month, Elaine from Miss Elaineous Life is hosting with Alison from Writing, Wishing. I love lists so I just had to join in on this one!

5 things I have passion for

1. Writing and sharing stories

2. Yoga

3. All the other fitness things i.e. running, swimming, surfing, etc.

4.  My family

5. Ice cream

5 things I would like to do before I die

Montauk surfing

1. I have to go with Kristen on this one – everything and anything that has to do with my kids growing up and being happy.

2. Become a better surfer. I’d also like to hit the top of the lip of a wave one day.

3. Own a home by the water, preferably the beach.

4. Stop trying to control the outcome.

5. Trust the Universe. (Is that too yogi of me? But it’s true. I would like to trust the Universe.)

5 things I say a lot

1. Everett stop it

2. My stomach hurts (kind of an old family joke but sadly, it does describe my present state).

3. What?

4. What is your brother doing?

5. We’re late!

5 books or magazines I’ve read recently

books recently

1. Runners world

2. Fitness Magazine

5. The Gifts of Imperfection

5 favorite movies

These are the ones that came to mind immediately. Yes, they are cliche.

1. Dirty Dancing

2. Top Gun

3. Pride and Prejudice (either the BBC version or the Keira Knightly version)

4. Pitch Perfect

5. The Proposal

Loved your article — and the swim gear! 😉 I’m not good at these types of list although after visiting Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs getting to the Grand Canyon is at the top of my travel list.

I want to go to New Zealand! And I just finished reading Gone Girl! And of course yoga…my happy place. And trusting the universe does NOT sound too yogi! At least to me!

I’m pretty sure that “stop that” is a top-five saying for every mom in the world! I love the idea of trusting in the universe, too. SO hard, especially if you have controlling tendencies. Not saying I do (ahem), but…

Just read a great read: American Rust by Phillipp Meyer. He’s a newish American writer and it was an amazing debut. Highly recommend!

I saw you post this earlier today and I couldn’t wait until I could actually get to it, even WITH a babysitter for one of the kids today. “What is your brother doing?” is such a quote I say to Scarlet when Des is being suspiciously quiet. I also ask it in the car a lot because she can see him even though she’s forward facing and he’s still rear facing. She’ll always say, “nothing” and then we’ll talk about how no one is ever doing nothing. He’s breathing isn’t he? “Isn’t he, Scarlet??”
Let’s talk Gone Girl when you’re done!

I nodded with your wish to try not to control the outcome. That is a hard one for me, but I would like to do that, too. Pride and Prejudice is also one of my favourites. I like either, but my favourite is the BBC version – probably because it is longer and we get more of the story. :)
