Milwaukee 2

For a while, we used to travel to Milwaukee every summer around the 4th of July to visit my cousin. It seemed like a good time to go – summer (warm weather vs. freezing cold Midwest winters), Summerfest, and a long weekend. Inexplicably, my husband and kids fell in love with Milwaukee. Then again, I guess I have too since I elected to travel here by myself earlier in April.

It was a fun weekend. We visited some new places like Discovery World and the Lynden Sculpture Garden (which is really beautiful and you should visit if you’re in the area) and visited old favorites like the pool and Friday Fish Fry at Lakefront Brewery. There was a lot of time spent outside running around.

We spent the afternoon of my birthday at Summerfest, wandering the grounds, listening to music and making a little tie dye. We ended the day with dinner at home, grilling brats, salmon and veggies. I got my wish for birthday pie – apple pie with homemade vanilla ice cream.

The boys had fun. Can you tell?

Thank you for all the birthday wishes!

Thank you Lisa! We had a great weekend away. I think that’s the first decent family photo we have. Glad that it’s taken almost 4 years to get. haha. The little ones doing tie dye was too much! They are very excited about their shirts.

I must sound so unoriginal, but yes, your family is adorable! Happy Birthday again. The Sculpture Garden looks like a photographer’s dream. That’s how I see the world these days in terms of travel. How will the pictures be?! The tie-dye process looks diligent. Can we see the finished product?

Thanks Tamara! The sculpture garden was beautiful and definitely a photographer’s dream! You would have loved it. It reminds me of one of my favorite places in the Hudson Valley here in New York – Storm King Art Center. And yes! You will get to see the finished tie dye project. I believe they want to wear the shirts on the 4th of July – quite fitting, yes?

Yup, the pie was huge. I swear, it was a 9-inch pie plate; who knew it would end up so ginormous?!?!?! #stillhavepieleftovers
