High Five Friday

Happy Friday!

I can’t believe it’s Friday already and, at the same time, I’m soooooo glad that it’s Friday. To celebrate the end of the week, it’s time for another round of high fives.

High Five Friday

Five Photos {PS are you following me on Instagram?}

  1. Urdhva Muka Svanasana / Upward Facing Dog to greet the early morning sun. I’ve been getting better about waking up early to go for a run. I forgot how nice it is to see the sun rise in the morning and to enjoy the quiet in the park.
  2. Compression sleeves! After last weekend’s yoga extravaganza, I was really sore. Like, really sore. I mentioned this to my physical therapist when I saw her on Tuesday and I was introduced to the amazing compression sleeves. It’s basically this sleeve that goes from your foot all they way up your leg and zips closed. It’s then connected to an air compressor and the sleeves slowly inflate with air, kind of like a blood pressure cuff, and applies pressure all along your legs. It’s like compression socks on steroids. My legs felt so.much.better afterwards.
  3. Brooklyn Cyclones baseball game. On Wednesday night, we went to watch a Brooklyn Cyclones baseball game – the minor league team for the New York Mets – to celebrate the end of the school year.
  4. Long run. This week long run was 10 miles. It was a soupy 10 miles and felt good. Glad to have that double digit run behind me.
  5. Last day of school! Finally! Yesterday was finally the last day of school for Jasper. NYC public schools sure do like a long school year. But I do think that he was probably the only kid who was sad that school was ending.

Five Good Reads

I am really behind in reading and am trying my best to catch-up! I love reading blog posts and articles and I’m sad that I’m so far behind. But from what I have read recently, these are some of my favs.

  1. THIS –> What I need the extroverts in my life to understand. I adore this post from Shell at Things I Can’t Say because it’s all so true.
  2. How do you define beauty? This is really great post about how to handle questions around beauty and looks and appearances, especially when those questions come from our children. I really love how Jennifer talks about defining beauty, and it’s definitely worth a read.
  3. How Netflix is changing our brains, and why that might not be all good. I watched Orange is the New Black for the first time last night and it is interesting to think about how Netflix has changed the way we watch TV. We can now sit there and binge watch an entire season of TV. This article brings up some interesting points and good food for thought.
  4. Importance of Self-Care: Why Others First Isn’t Always the Best (post response). We often hear the phrase, “If Mama isn’t happy, nobody is happy,” or “You have to take care of yourself in order to take care of others.” I am a firm believer in self-care and this post from Valerie (in response to one of Carla’s posts) dug a little deeper into what it means to care for yourself and the impact on your family and loved ones.
  5. If Asians said the stuff that white people say. I mean, I feel like I’m allowed to post this video because I’m Asian and because it rings so true!

Who are you high fiving this week?

Oh compression socks were my BFF yesterday after 10-miler before work. Luckily I was able to hide them under a super comfy maxi dress 😉 That’s my high 5 for the week! I’m so checking out that 1st blog post right now. Happy Friday!

    Hi Christine,

My first time here..I’ve used the compression socks before and they do great wonders. Beautiful photo! I love your favorite 5 good read, especially ‘how do you define beauty.’ I have to agree that the answer is different for each of us.

Again, I thank you for stopping by my blog and sharing your thoughts there. Blessings and have a great weekend.
