My family and I spent the last week in Playa Guiones in Nosara, Costa Rica. This is the third time that I’ve visited Nosara and each time, I think that I fall in love with it a little bit more. This time, I got to share it with my kids.
I don’t usually like hot weather, and I definitely hate bugs and mosquitoes, mostly because I tend to be the one to attract their attention. But I hardly notice either of these things when I’m there.
I think that it’s the combination of the beach and the scenery, the surfers and yogis, and the beautiful spectacles of nature and the ridiculous sunsets. I mean, it’s magical at dusk. I’ve never seen colors in the sky like these before.
My city slicker kids became beach bums – covered in sand from head to toe, ruddy from the sun. If they weren’t at the beach digging holes, hunting for shells or drawing pictures, they were doing cannonballs in the pool. My younger son, who normally complains about having to walk 50 feet from our home, happily walked and hiked all over town. They also were quite taken with the gecko that had taken residence in our home.
It’s always hard to leave but I know (I hope) that I will be back soon.
How was your week?
