Memories Captured: Brothers Part 2

I’m so excited that Alison and Galit have brought back Memories Captured this month. I love this link-up because it allows me to step back for a moment and remember the memories at hand. We all complain that times moves too quickly, right? Especially as parents? Well, here’s one chance that I have to slow things down.

I decided to do this post in the same format that I wrote in October. Much of it still holds true.

brothers

The two of you are finishing another year of school.
One of you will be graduating from Kindergarten.
One of you will be entering pre-K.

The two of you have grown so much over the past year yet your proportions have remained the same with
One of you only reaching the shoulders of the other.
Only one of you can still fit in my lap.

One of you has become a virtual chatterbox over the past year.
One of you has remained a kind hearted friend.

One of you wants to be a teacher, pilot, train conductor or mailman when you grow up.
One of you wants to be a musician on the stage – with a microphone and a guitar.

Both of you love creating art.
One of you prefers meticulous maps and family portraits.
One of you prefers scribble scrabble and collages.
Both of you like building mega cities and airports around the house until
One of your decides to knock it down.

Both of you love singing at the top of your lungs.
Both of you know all the words to Bryan Adams’ Summer of ’69.
Both of you sing it over and over (and over and over).
Good thing it’s summer because I think that we’ve found our summer anthem.

What memories are you capturing?

This is so lovely! Your boys are so sweet. Oh when only one will fit in my lap, that will both make me sad and be a moment to hold onto. Summer of 69 is the perfect summer anthem! Our is shaping up to be Take Me Home Country Roads :)

This is so very sweet. I remember my own kids at those ages and remember thinking they were so ‘big’ when in the scheme of things they are so very small. I thought my 11-year old was so ‘big’ when she flew off by herself the other day, when in fact that’s not true either. It’s all relative isn’t it?

What a fun way to capture the likenesses and differences in your boys! And, so cool that you have done this before (and I’m guessing will again) so that you can see how they change as they get older!!

What a lovely way to capture where they are at the start of the summer – and such a great photo, Christine! And how I love that they are singing ‘Summer of ’69’ – it’s one that we sing at home, too. (I love Bryan Adams’ music!) :)

Your boys really seem to enjoy being together. It sounds like they will have a wonderful summer.

I love how you wrote this! My son’s anthem right now is Sheryl Crow’s song Real Gone (because of the Cars movie). Maybe I should introduce him to your children’s song. It would be a welcome change!

How funny they sing “Summer of 69″! how old are your boys? They look to be far apart like mine. Except my youngest is quickly catching up in size. I love how you captured where they are right now. So sweet.
