‘Tis the season!
With the holidays just around the corner (how is it Thanksgiving next week?!), we’re starting to plan family get-togethers and holiday celebrations. And yes, that includes thinking about presents.
If you have a runner in your life and you’re looking for ideas for gifts for runners, I’ve got you covered. These are great for Christmas, Hanukkah, birthdays – any occasion really. Many of these products are ones that I have tried myself and have come to love.
Here’s my pick of 11 great gifts for runners.
1. New Balance Performance Merino Half Zip ($119.99)
Half zips are a staple in my winter running wardrobe. It keeps me warm but allows me to easily regulate my temperature when I warm up on my run. This New Balance top is made of non-itch merino wool — it keeps you dry and wicks moisture and sweat away from you. And like any essential cool weather top, it has thumbholes.
Don’t forget to keep your ears warm when it’s cold outside! This Trailheads Space Dye Knit Ponytail Headband is a super cute cold weather running accessory. With a fleece lining and ponytail opening in the back, it’s designed for comfort and warmth. Not only is it a great gift for runners in your life, but also skiers, skaters and snowshoers — anyone who spends time outdoors.
3. nicepipes Color Blocked Capri ($88)
I’m in love with these color blocked capris from nicepipes. nicepipes started out making leg and arm warmers and launched a new activewear line this year. With mild compression and a wide waistband, these capris stay in place and don’t bag. Plus, they’re super versatile. Combine the capris with nicepipes’ leg warmers to extend the length and wear of the pants.

4. Momentum Evolve Wrap ($27.99)
Words are powerful and when you’re training, racing or living day to day, they have the ability to help shift your mindset and give you a boost when you most need it. And a great way to wear your mantra every day is Momentum Jewelry. My new favorite Momentum bracelet is the Evolve Wrap, available in black or brown leather. Unlike other Momentum wraps, you can change the saying on the bracelet so that it evolves with you.
5. Under Armour Women ColdGear Printed Legging ($64.99)
Under Armour ColdGear leggings are a cold weather staple in my running wardrobe. These leggings have a brushed interior that keeps you nice and toasty when it’s chilly outside. It has a flat waistband that keeps the leggings comfortably in place. The leggings are available in a variety of colors and prints.
Whether you’re running outside or running errands, this beanie from Calia by Carrie is a stylish pick. You can wear it slouchy or roll the cuff for a sleeker profile. Plus, it has a ponytail opening in the back.
7. Mind Gym ($9.57)
I love reading about the mental side of training. This book was recommended to me by several friends. It talks about how your mind influences your performance as much as your physical skill and training, if not more. The book not only explains this but offers 40 lessons and inspirational stories from notable athletes to help build your mental muscles.
8. OOFOS Ooriginal ($44.95)
OK, I know that these just look like a pair of flip flops but I swear, these are amazing. They are designed to help your feet recover after a workout. They have incredible support for your arches and absorbs impact when you walk. They’re great if you have plantar fasciitis or Achilles tendonitis — two things that I’m quite familiar with! They’re available in 13 different colors and they also make a clog and a sport sandal.
9. Handful Adjustable Bra ($48)
Handful bras are one of my favorite bras. Designed to flatter not flatten, the bras have adjustable straps so you can cross the back or where the straps straight like a regular bra, have removable pads — great for those of us who need a little boost up front — and come in a rainbow of colors. Not only that, but I love the company and what it stands for — supporting strong, confident, determined, active, compassionate and adventurous women live lives that exceed their wildest dreams.
10. Believe I Am Journal ($18.95)
The Believe I Am journal was created by pro runners Lauren Fleshman and Ro McGettigan. It encourages you to look holistically at your training. Not only that, but it’s full of inspirational quotes, tips (training, sport psychology, nutrition, racing, etc.) and ideas to help you map out your goals and vision. It’s available in red, lavender and charcoal.
11. Sabre personal alarm ($9.99)
OK, I know. A personal alarm as one of my gift for runners picks? But this is a safety must-have, especially for the women runners in your life. It looks like a USB flash drive but it’s a simple and easy to use personal alarm that you can carry with you on your runs or as part of your regular keychain. I received one as a gift from Rise.Run.Retreat. Jesica demonstrated the alarm for us and it’s REALLY LOUD.
