Allegiant, Cortisone and Spandits!

Thank you all for your amazing and supportive comments on my teacher training journey. It means the world to me that you all are confident in my potential as a teacher.

I have some exciting news to share! I few weeks ago I was named one of Spandits! inaugural Ambassadors! Spandits! offers athletic wear in super cute and fun prints. It is a small business based in Maine that was founded by two women – mothers, runners and running coaches – who were sick of wearing just black and grey bottoms.

I have two pairs of leggings that I love. They fit like a second skin and have a higher waist which means I’m not constantly tugging at my pants. The best part? They are affordable.

Definitely check out Spandits! If you do purchase some, let them know that I sent you!

Shoulder, Shoulder, Shoulder

My shoulder has been acting up lately. It’s been feeling sore, weak and creaky. It literally crunches when I try to bring my left hand to my back and I feel limited in my range of motion (and weak). I’m sure that the bajillion chaturanga dandasanas (aka yoga push-up) that I’ve done over the past month hasn’t helped.

Since it’s the same shoulder that I dislocated about 8 years ago, I went to my doctor today just to have him take a look and make sure it wasn’t anything serious. And it’s not. Some inflammation and possible wear of the cartilage. My doctor offered me a cortisone shot to which I said yes. I know that it’s only addressing the symptoms but I hope that it will provide some relief so that I can address the real problem.

The only thing? Getting a cortisone shot meant that I had to scrap my plans to swim laps in the afternoon. Instead, I strapped on an aqua jogger and jogged in the pool for the first time.

Allegiant Book Release

My day ended with an author event at the 92Y – Veronica Roth discussing the release of her much anticipated book Allegiant, the final book in the Divergent series. I love the Divergent series.

While Veronica didn’t discuss much about the new book (to avoid any spoilers), she did discuss the process of writing and creating character, whether or not she automatically categorizes people into factions upon meeting them, and how she reacted to seeing her story and characters come to life on the big screen. She answered questions from the audience and then was joined by two members of the movie cast – Ansel Elgort (who plays Caleb) and Christian Madsen (who plays Al).

Fun fact – Christian split his pants while filming one of the train jumping scenes. Apparently, Candor pants are tight.

I cannot wait to read the book.

Are you a fan of colorful and printed leggings?

Divergent seriously is one of my favorite series. Great thing about reading it now is that all 3 books are out and you don’t have to wait between books! I too love supporting small businesses and love that Spandits was started by two mother runners. Definitely check them out!

These crops intrigue me so much! how do they fit? are they as flattering as lulu in the ah, rear view? LOL. I am such a lulu addict, it’s ridiculous, but am looking for some different and unique alternatives!! congrats on being an ambassador!!

Thank you!! I do love the crops and the prints and they are super affordable, especially compared to lulu. I will admit that lulu does do amazing things for the rear view. While the waist doesn’t have the same seams/gusseting (is that even a word, let alone the right word??) as lulu wunderunders, I do think that they fit well. I haven’t had a see through problem either.

Thank you Jody! I thought that I would NEVER wear patterned pants but now I’m kind of obsessed with patterned pants of all kinds, much to my husband’s chagrin. haha. And thankfully my shoulder is feeling much better!
