Where have I been? Disney World.
Yup. It’s true. We bit the bullet and decided to take the boys to Disney. I haven’t been to Disney since I was about Jasper’s age and I thought that I would never have to take them since Disney is all about princesses, right?
Well, these two little boys somehow managed to become obsessed with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in the last year and they really really really really wanted to see where Mickey, Minnie, and all the other characters lived. So, we went.
It was worth it just to see their eyes lights up and to see them in Mickey ears.
Jasper’s excitement in both pictures kills me. I was so excited that I flipped over into a full wheel pose. Just kidding. There is a Yoga-A-Day challenge going on for November. I haven’t been playing along with the yoga challenge this month but couldn’t pass up the chance to get some pictures at Disney.
YogaADay November challenge – Upward Bow Pose at Disney World
Since we returned home late Wednesday night, we weren’t planning on doing anything special for Thanksgiving. About halfway through the day, I started to feel guilty so I scrounged up some food and put together an impromptu dinner – chicken drumsticks, roasted vegetables, cheese and apple crisp. It says something when Jasper tells me, “Mommy, this is such a nice dinner.” That should give you a sense of what my cooking has been like lately. We even dressed up the table with candles and candle holders that Everett made in school last year.
I love to cook and bake but haven’t been inspired lately. However, I wanted to keep cooking all weekend. Luckily, I had some time so I made some broccoli pancakes for Everett, sweet potato brownies (even Jasper approved!)…
Sweet potato brownies – YUM
and Melissa’s blood orange and dark chocolate chip muffins, minus the chocolate chips. OMG both were amazing and delicious. You need to go make both of them right now.
With all the not-super-good-for-you food at Disney followed by Thanksgiving, I’ve been indulging a bit more than usual. Thankfully, I have Tina’s Best Body Bootcamp and Amanda’s Holiday Bootie Buster Challenge (HBBC) to keep me in line.
Tina continues to offer a great range of workouts that have really challenged me. When I lift, I usually do my workouts as straight circuits but I’ve learned so much through Tina’s approach and use of supersets, circuits, isometric holds and cardio blasts.
However, I think that she had it in for us this week as two of the workouts involved burpees. Lots of burpees. Like 9 rounds of burpees. I did the first workout on Monday while we were in Florida and it was so very painful. I tackled the second workout on Friday and it went much better. I managed to do 162 burpees over 9 rounds.
As for HBBC, it’s a great way to keep me accountable. Basically, I earn points for my workouts, eating 5-7 servings of fruits and vegetables a day, and supporting my fellow HBBC-ers. I feel like I’m a little kid and my hoarding tendencies are surfacing because I’m just trying to rack up as many points as possible.
How was your weekend and Thanksgiving? Are you getting into the holiday spirit?

Would you believe I’ve never been to Disney World? Wrong coast. I practically grew up at Disneyland, and that’s where I took my kids (also 2 boys) when they were young.
I had a nice, busy Thanksgiving. It will take me a couple more weeks to get into the Christmas spirit, though. Just how I roll.

Disney is my favorite! Haven’t been there in several years but it’s so hard not to go back when we love it so much. I absolutely love your low key Thanksgiving. That’s exactly how we spent our day…together. And that’s what matters. Have an excellent week!

I am so glad you had a great time in Disney! And that upward facing bow is priceless – just priceless.
I told you before that I think impromptu holiday dinners are some of the best ones. It’s too easy to stress over the cooking when it’s big and planned. I am a huge fan of the low key – now more than ever! thanks for sharing your week and weekend with us. Great pictures of you guys as well!

The low-key dinner was great and you’re absolutely right – they often are better than the big and planned. I loved that no one even seems to notice what I’m doing in that picture in front the castle. Even when I was setting up and lying down on the ground – no one looked.
That picture of you and the boys is a framer! So cute!

You are too sweet. Disney was good – better than I anticipated. Frankly, my goal was just to survive the trip but we did have a lot of fun. It’s worth it just to see the sparkle in the boys’ eyes and they were SO excited.
Rock those burpees, woman! Just getting stronger and stronger and stronger.
And more importantly, my heart melted at Disney World. It is SUCH a special experience to bring the kids. I took M for the first time this past summer and I teared up so badly over her excitement. Such special memories to have for years to come for you and your family.
Tina @ Best Body Fitness recently posted..A Sisterly Tradition
ohmygosh the burpees Tina. They slay me.
I completely agree that it’s such a special experience to bring the kids. I really didn’t want to go at first but then remembered that it’s not about me but it’s about creating these magical experiences for our kids. And man did their eyes light up and their jaws drop. That in and of itself was so worth it. Well, that and seeing the kids in Mickey ears which I continue to make them wear when they are at home.
My favorite yoga pose in front of such a cool location – I love it! Looks like you had a great holiday.

how about I send Jasper over your way?
He’s such a little jokester. And his expressions are clearly of a kid who is sick of his parents taking pictures of him every 5 minutes.
I unplugged too- it was much needed! Your boys are the cutest! And that picture of you all at Thanksgiving dinner makes me wish we could come over and have dinner together. I can just tell your husband and mine would hit it off.
Glad you had fun in Disney! We went when I was about 9, and will probably take L some day.
Oh, and I am the same way with HBBC! I love that extra incentive to rack up points!

You look awesome! And I have some other friends who went to Disney World last week too – maybe you guys crossed paths. I love the back bend there – did people think you were part of the show???
Amazingly (or not?), no one seemed to notice me – as I was laying down on the ground or as I was doing the pose.
Everytime I see a family headed to Disney (and then the photos they come back with) I become even more convinced that it is a trip we’ll need to make in a few years. Glad you had a great time and loving your impromptu Thanksgiving!

I love the pictures! We just got back from Disney too!! We went to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Universal. The kids had a blast. My sister in law runs a bootcamp so I did that while I was there. Like you said, it keeps you in line!! She worked me so hard with the bootcamps plus all the walking at Disney that I actually lost weight on vacation! I love the idea of you getting to earn points for your activity. What a great concept!
