Happiness is…

Writing in the sand

I’m sick. I thought that I was turning the corner and starting to feel better. No. That was just a tease. As much as I’ve tried to deny it, I’m sick. Headaches, fatigue, coughing…yup. Sick. So I was moping around yesterday when I read Angela’s post over at Happy Fit Mama. And then I read Lindsay’s post over at Cotter Crunch and I started feeling happier.

There are so many things to be grateful and thankful for. I do believe that if you think about and say what makes you happy, you will start to feel a little happier.

Here’s my list of what makes me happy right now, in no particular order:

  • All the amazing comments you left on my post yesterday. I’m trying not to turn and run the other direction but to stop, pause and say THANK YOU.
  • October baseball and that the Yankees are in the postseason. (Sorry, I’m watching baseball as I write this.)
  • Unexpected, full body hugs from Everett.
  • Unexpected notes and messages for me left by Jasper all over the house and, apparently, on the beach too. I thought that the parent was supposed to do this.
  • Overhearing my boys having conversations with each other.
  • Overnight oats <– Why have I only recently discovered these?
  • Yoga
  • Everett’s squishy cheeks
  • Crisp autumn mornings
  • Green smoothies
  • Ice coffee – No, I’m not ready to give them up yet.
  • Holding hands while walking to school
  • Being greeted by a big hug and smile at the end of the school day
  • Reeboks
  • Bright colored jeans
  • Sparkly arm candy
  • Listening to the Head and the Heart
  • Reading books that Jasper has written
  • Sleep – just wish that I could get a wee bit more!

What about you? What is on your happiness list?

  1. I am in love with overnight oats too! I always rolled my eyes whenever a blogger wrote about their latest overnight oats recipe until I actually tried them one time and I was like OK wow yah now I get it. I make mine with liquid vanilla stevia and I swear it reminds me of vanilla bean ice cream YUM! Other things that make me happy: that it is still summer here in LA, buying new fitness clothes, new gym shoes (still deciding), my hubby and my two Shih-tzus dancing around me when I get home! What is your favorite overnight oats recipe?? Love and Shine CourtStar

    • haha – that was exact same impression about overnight oats before I tried them. Now, seriously, I eat them every morning. Thank you for sharing your happy list. It made me smile as I read it.

    • I think that I will continue to drink ice coffee into the winter. I mean, I never get to finish a hot cup of coffee anyways…

  7. Today it’s the brilliant colors of the leaves. I love seeing the branches peak through making a beautiful contrast against all the fall colors.

    • I love the changing colors of the leaves. They haven’t really started changing down here in NYC. Hopefully soon.

  8. Love your list (and sleep is definitely on mine!). I mentioned to Angela that what I love about these lists is that they really point out to us what is most important in life.

Feel better–rest up as much as a mom with two small children can!

    • Sometimes, I don’t think I take enough time to think about the happy and I need to remind myself. Seeing others’ posts this week helped to remind me. I love your list – the blogging community does make me very thankful and happy. Enjoy your weekend!

  18. I love lists of happy. I agree – focusing on the happy always makes me feel better, too.

My happy includes hot coffee (iced is not the same for me, even though my coffee always gets cold before I can finish it,) hugs, and family walks.

    Hope you feel better soon!

    • I love your list Kim! It’s funny, I think that the reason that I drink iced coffee is because I can never drink a hot cup of coffee while it’s still hot!! Thanks and hope you have a good weekend.

  19. I’ve been thinking of all the things I miss from the States that I don’t have living in a small town in South Africa. It’s hard to remember to be thankful. Thanks for the reminder! Visiting from SITS.
