It’s Fitbloggin’ time!

I wasn’t expecting to attend more than one blog conference this year. Since I’m in my first year of blogging, I opted to attend Bloggy Bootcamp in Philadelphia back in May. I figured that it would be a good intro blog conference for me – relatively small and packed with great blogging information. But I also came across Fitbloggin’ – a conference for bloggers interested in fitness, health, good food and healthy lifestyles. I was intrigued but I ultimately chose not to attend Fitbloggin’ because I felt that the conference might be too narrow for my interests and I didn’t want to pigeon-hole myself.

But a funny thing happened over the last couple of months. As I continued blogging, I’ve found myself drawn to a community of bloggers – people who seem to be able to articulate many of the thoughts that swirl around in my head, people who get the sometimes crazy things that one will do for what they love and are passionate about, people who support me. More than anything, those people are part of the health and fitness community.

I’m so excited for the opportunity to be attend Fitbloggin’ this year and to meet many of these people and hear them speak. I will be one of the Fitbloggin’ Assistants and will be LiveBlogging Friday’s session on Attracting Local Media & Finding Success as a Freelance Writer with Carla Birnberg aka MizFitOnline. I think that many of you know that I really admire Carla. I’m honored to cover her session and I really hope that I will be able to do her justice. When I said that people seem to articulate the thoughts in my head? <– Carla

So now it’s on to the hard task of packing. I hate packing. I can pack for my kids in 10 minutes flat but it takes me forever. And, inevitably, I overpack. I plan on bringing workout clothes and some cute casual clothes during the day but I also wanted to bring a nicer dress (or two) for the evenings. Otherwise my poor clothes never get to see the light of day!

Yesterday, I asked for some advice on what I should bring. Here are the “nice clothes” option. What do you think? Two of the dresses have started to emerge from Facebook and Instagram comments but I still can’t decide!

1) Brooklyn Industries; 2) Plenty by Tracy Reese; 3) Gap; 4) Old Navy

Which two workout tops should I bring? PS I really want to do the Reebok Crossfit WOD on Friday morning.

Top Left: Lululemon; Top Right: Athleta; Bottom Left: Under Armour Women; Bottom Right: Lululemon

I’m super excited. Be sure to follow me on Instagram to see what’s going on all weekend. I have a feeling that I’m going to be sharing a lot of pictures. What? Me? Instagram obsessed??

What do you wear to blogging conferences? What else do you pack? I’m pretty sure I’m going to forget something. Will you be at Fitbloggin’??

  8. I am so excited for this weekend! I guess I am lucky b/c I will have my entire closet at my disposal, so no hard choices yet! I love all your options–you will look fabulous in any of them, but I am partial to the two dresses on the right. For the WOD, any of the tanks would work, I’d say.

    See you this weekend!!

  10. I have to laugh at ‘us girls’ being concerned about what to pack and wear at a fitness bloggers conference. I haven’t noticed any of the guys asking each other for feedback about clothing! LOL!

I like dress #3 (but hate to tell you that, ’cause I don’t own a dress that’s appropriate for the weather, so won’t be wearing one)/

Love the top 2 tops. I’ll be packing and wearing mainly fitness clothes, ’cause that’s my comfort zone!
    See you tomorrow night!

  11. Those dresses are all so cute! I love the first two especially. And I’m jealous of all your Lululemon tops! I’m planning to do the Crossfit too, except that I am still being cautious with my shin so no jumping around for me. I’ll do the push ups. :) See you soon!

  15. So bummed I’m not going! Really wish I would’ve spent my one conference this year at Fitbloggin’ but maybe next year. So many bloggers are going to be there that I’d love to meet in person (you included). I over pack too so I’m not much help in that department. My vote is for dress #2 or 4 and tanks #2. Have fun!!!

    • Thanks Alison. I’m horrible at packing and horrible at making decisions about packing. It drives my husband crazy because I will lay out pretty much my entire closet the week before while he packs the morning of departure. But I’m packed! I’m in Baltimore sans kids! Yipee!

  19. I want those dresses! send them to me! JK. So excited you get to go and attend Carla’s session and blog it. that is so so cool!!! And I vote both lululemon tops ;-)
